Hey everyone, this is a How to video for anyone wanting to paint artwork onto wood panel. Building a frame or cradling a piece of wood is essential if you want to paint on it, otherwise the board is likely to warp and become unhangable. Professor Farmer takes you through step by step in this demo!

  • Dude, the soundtrack needs some work. Need some scary movie music!

  • This is the greatest comedy video of all time complete with the three stooges music. In forty years as a professional woodworker i have never seen more misinformation and improper technique compressed into one video. This is really great stuff.. congrats.

  • I'm too cheap for a meter saw and am not sure if a router is really necessary. I have a handsaw and some sandpaper? Any advice?

  • Why do all the boards have to have 45 degree angle cuts rather than perpendicular cuts? What are the advantages and disadvantages of either method? In the Youtube video " Building painting surfaces PART 1: How to build a cradled wood " a smaller panel is made where these are perpendicular cuts.

  • Why is the 1 inch side, of the 1inch x 2inch sticks, glued to the panel? Why not glue the 2 inch side of the cradle to the panel instead? Would that not create a stronger bond with more surface area?

  • thanks so much for posting these videos. i have three 24"x36" panels to cradle and couldn't get any instruction on how to do it! you're a lifesaver!
