I was the art director on MGD while at Backer Spielvogel Bates in NY. I had this idea for a spot where you never see the dude but the beautiful women all swoon, so that any guy could picture himself as the dude. Ted Trautwein added the perfect copy line "I was hopin' you'd say that," which to me made the spot. I still love this commercial after all these years. It holds up well. Graham Henman from HKM in LA shot it beautifully. That waitress is the real-life daughter of the man that played Dean Wormer in Animal House.
Oh, and I had to go to London to a special effects company to create that ice keg. This was way before CGI. Thankfully. Andy Cornelius was the producer.

  • @raymondr612001 Unfortunately I never saw that show. I bet she was good.

  • She went on to play Col. Tigh's slutty wife on "Battlestar Galactica."
