Welcome to the Greater Depression
As the unemployed and jobless become desperate in California many begin turning their homes into income generators. One house in particular caught my eye recently by turning their living room into a restaurant. In a sign that America is slowly becoming more like a third world country houses become weekend stores, restaurants, Medical Marijuana Collectives, day care centers and beyond. The street is telling the story of the unfolding economic collapse better than any article I can read. Unemployment and Food stamps and Welfare seem to be the lynch pins in our society on the west coast. Once government runs out of funds to support these entitlements, I fear for my children's future.
you guys are just unaware of how things work in a small bussines based society, really, being astunished by people starting small? and having restaurants in a residential zone?
i dont see any wrong in that, whats the big deal ? you really got eaten by corporations in such way that looking at people starting small and having iniciative to earn their money and build a bussines without credits, loans or red tape scares the hell out of you, you live in another planet i cant understand you.

thats how we do in México exactly :P, but this should not be a bad sign, this people are making money by making their own bussines.
its a counter reaction to organized bussines and i think its good.
here in mexico our streets are always full of small bussineses. people allways try to find a way to have an independent bussines and grow, without having a lot of corporate intervention, and sometimes you have to start small,

They are working to earn money fair play but as long as it's legal. Yes you get ghosted for not working but put in jail if you work without rights to do so!

You people don't realize why the JEws have created this situation. They are about to screw you by creating another attack and the martial law and then depression not necessarily in that order. You can have hard economic times in one area. You can't have ti all over the world unless the JEws have done it. They can create a depression anytime they want and that's what we get for allowing the Communists into our country after WWII> Now they own us and we pay

I've seen these home restaurants in countries other than Mexico on an episode of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. It's a strange world we live in.

Nothing new here, people have always turned their houses in restraunts. Even during 60's where economics in the US were rising to the best people bought cheap houses, converted them into restraunts to save a lot of money than building a restaunt it self. This happens worldwide. Especially in Asia, especially China. Does it mean most people who do it are people who can't find jobs are making restraunts out of their houses? Not always, it's just a cheaper alternative.

@Rrrayas Not to be rude or anything but I agree not all Mexicans mean harm. But most of them which are illegal do cause the government problems. I'm Mexican and a US Citizen and I have seen this with family members who do not have papers. They use fake social security numbers destroying peoples credit. They claim fewer taxes since they use different names. They may have 2 jobs but in each job they have different info. I hate the fact how they cheat the government and then act like the victims.

...Do you go around stalking Mexicans and speaking about them as if they were barbarians? At least they give back to society, taking a part in the "economy" whilst you sit on your fat ass and spy on Mexicans and trash talk about them for a difference of lifestyle that pertains to ONE family. Not all Mexico is poor anyway, I've lived here for 2 years and earn around the amount of 3,000 USD a month with a rent of 175 with utilities included.
