I asked a group of nine students what they want to say to the rest of the world about South Korea, or more generally, about Asia. They address a variety of topics, such as being good at math, being asked if they are Japanese or Chinese, and also cosmetic surgery.

I've been helping these students prepare for their journey abroad to the USA this winter, and we thought making a video would be a great way to make a memory of the time that we've spent together comparing cultures, thoughts, and opinions. I'm really proud of what these students have achieved already, and I know they will all be wonderful broad-minded teachers in the future.

I was inspired to make this film after watching Lena Khan's video "A Land Called Paradise".

Please feel free to comment, ask questions, and leave your opinions.

The song is "Traveler" by Korean indie musician Soul Park. Here is Soul Park's English website where you can download this song and the whole album: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/soulpark (1 song : $0.99, whole album : $7.77)

  • The girl with the shortest hair looks like Songs Hye Kyo

  • I -3 Korean guys XD

  • I'm Korean and I'm 194cm tall... that's 6ft.4in.

no. I don't play basketball nor have I met Jeremy Lin (I actually want to meet him at least once!!!), I suck at baseball pitching and batting (only my catching is good), and I've only played as goalie in soccer.

I suck at calculus, trigonometry, and data management (but i have fast mental math capabilities)

I am not ranked in Starcraft2 because i have only played an online 1v1 once. (But I did pretty well in broodwars).

Am I Korean or not? xD

  • what a great video! It's always a wonderful thing to break down stereotypes and remember that every person on Earth is an individual. *peace* :D

  • @DeathORPunani The thing, is my school is a really small school. So i'm pretty much an only asian there. But i have this one friend who made little jokes here and there, before I transferred but then he stopped. It's okay once in a while. It's just that sometimes people are so ignorant and annoying.

  • @free2rhyme411 iunno y ppl r so into stereotypes...just joke around with em (im Chinese and i hear a lot of stereotypes but its all fun since there are stereotypes for all other races). Plus Stereotypes arent really bad, its only when it stops being a stereotype and becomes prejudice when it becomes bad

  • Wow this is cool. :D

  • That was adorable. Asians are deff known to be adorable :3 Hehe. Thanks for showing this though. I hate math. I've never had dog meat. But I'm Korean American and I'm proud of being one! It does piss me off that people have so many stereotypes about asians. But everyone is racist. Even if we're black or asian. People are racist. You can't stop Racism. :p But you know what pisses me off though, NO ONE KNOWS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOUTH KOREA AND NORTH KOREA!. -.-
