Oh gee, McCain misremembered a guard drawing a cross. Let's make a big deal about this, like the fact that he also lied about how he singlehandedly took out the guards using a machine gun made of bamboo and his own karate skills. He also falsely writes in his book about how he freed all of his friends, who then tied up the guards and threw them in the spike pit, while McCain stole the Vietcong's monster truck and did a drive by shooting on Ho Chi Minh's secret disco jacuzzi palace.

religion in my opinion is simply the fear of death and or the after life AND the personification of natural celestial phenomenon. people are so afraid of what will or wont happen when they die they make up intricate stories to give themselves piece of mind.

He most likely is just a confused, "fucked up" (as you say) POW.  He is certainly old and stupid, but he is also campaigning for office.

I wouldnt rag on Mccains character. He is most likely getting his memories jumbled. It happens at that age and is a perfect example why he shouldnt have run for president.

@qerrtre That's true; veterans don't. But think about it, being a POW to the vietnamese or the Japanese is undoubtedly the most horrifying thing anyone could ever go through. If he read that story prior to his time as a POW, it could of easily became an idea in his head of what he went through. Im not a psyciatrist, but I have heard that when you go through something so tramatic, you block it out. All he remembered could have been what didnt really happen; but what he believed to have happened
