PJTV's Andrew Klavan explains how culture in America has become an enchanted place where the conservative facts of life are magically turned into liberal fantasies. From JFK conspiracy theories to murderous evangelical Christians, can you spot the difference between "culture" and reality? Watch & comment here: http://pjtv.com/v/3008

  • @monjiaitaly That may be true...you'd think technology would make life easier for us, and it has in some ways...but we've become an even more fast-paced society and that accounts for much of the stress, I'm sure.

  • Terry Schaivo was brain-dead. Recovery was not possible, and according to her husband's testimony she didn't want to be a vegetable, kept alive for no purpose at all. Her brain was examined at the autopsy, and it was found to have so thoroughly atrophied that it would have taken a --literal-- miracle to have saved her.

But I digress. Klavan's point is otherwise good.

  • the real reality

December 25, 1984: An abortion clinic and two physicians' offices in Pensacola, Florida were bombed in the early morning of Christmas Day they later called the bombings "a gift to Jesus on his birthday

September 30, 2000: a Catholic priest, drove his car into the Northern Illinois Health Clinic

41 bombings, 173 arsons, 91 attempted bombings or arsons, 619 bomb threats, 1630 incidents of trespassing, 1264 incidents of vandalism, and 100 attacks with butyric acid ("stink bombs")

  • this is to black and white, i am sure there where things in the past that were better than today. I have been around awhile and even in my own time I can say all changes are not always for the better. This is hogwash, we have the most stressed out society of all time and it was brought on by technology. We are not happier today than we were 60 years ago.

  • @thomaserossi

I wasn't aware of the ancient state of Asia... I'm sure everyone on the European continent shared the same class, language and culture too.

  • @AliceNchainz011 I wasn't implying anything. I am just saying the film wasn't wrong when it portrayed JFK contemplating withdrawal.

  • @hitballfootler JFK was only going to withdraw from South Vietnam when the anti-communist government there was strong enough to fend for itself (something that was briefly achieved after the Paris Peace of 1973)...an important difference from what you're implying.

  • I'm probably more center-left, and I agree with Klavan on this
