David Hamilton (AVP and SBU Head - Healthcare & Life Science Practice, Cognizant) and Janice Young (Program Director, Payer IT Strategies, Health Industry Insights) discuss ICD-10 collaboration challenges and approaches for successful ICD-10 transformation.

To ensure services are coded in ICD-10 at the point of care, accepted and interpreted in an optimal fashion by payers; and that the intelligence built into the codes is used appropriately - providers, payers, pharmacy benefit managers, clearinghouses and third party administrators will need to work together to identify and resolve areas of mutual challenge.

This collaboration is required right from the beginning - from initial planning, solution and workflow design, collaborative testing of ICD-10 maps and ICD-10-based fee schedules - through completion and stabilization of ICD-10 transformation.
