Probably my favorite fusion tune.
Finally got around to learning it yesterday.
The original bassist probably played much of this in the 1st position but
I'm more comfortable playing it this way.

  • you think u could notate this?

  • I told myself I would do that 2 years ago, guess I'll never get around to doing it as I already forgot how to play it.

  • @subersibo Still waiting for that remake. You owe it to yourself, and us, the fans.

  • @analyzingfunny Hmm, dunno if I'll ever get to it as I have been too busy learning so many tunes for upcoming gigs. I am in the process of forming a regular band and I'm thinking of having a sax and trumpet player. If it materializes, I will force them (LOL) to learn this song and then I will have to force myself to re-learn it.

  • Pure musical orgasm in my pants!)

  • Charles Meeks (the original bassist) would be proud. Good Job.

  • @reshea1950 revisiting Chuck Mangione today at work and loved this song. Thanks for throwing this up

  • In the part from about 14 to 22 seconds, are you muting the A string at all? When I play this part it seems like mine (A string) tends to resonate too loudly. Sometimes I let my little finger on my plucking hand lay on the A until I play it and then return it for situations like this. I know that's not the standard but its a method I come up with to help dampen unplayed strings. Just wondering what everyone else does? If anything....

  • Una persona es sorda y estúpida, AWESOME DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for a great video. I'm pretty sure I can make out all the notes just from watching you. No need to tab it out. Honestly, if a person can't follow this well captured video it's probably a bit beyond their capability just yet. Thanks again for a great post. Excellent playing.

  • very impressive, can you demonstrate it with a head cam instead, since i never see the bass in that view? I believe it would improve bass lessons and have a more natural approach for anyone trying to learn.

  • maple necks + pearl inlays = the shit

  • I love this bassline, but I can't play it. Too fast to my clumpsy fingers...

  • Haven't heard this probably since the early to mid 1980's. Never was sure who did it but knew I liked it! For some reason it got mixed up in my mind with Close Encounters... who knows why?
