Take a tour of German Town of Landsberg am Lech in Landsberg am Lech, Germany - part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.

Though not one of Germany's most well-known cities, Landsberg am Lech is a very important part of the country's past.

It's a beautiful place, but there's also a history here of which not all visitors are aware.

It was in this city's prison that Adolf Hitler wrote Mein Kampf during his confinement.

Additionally, there was a large concentration camp not far from the town that was liberated during World War Two.

Later this was the site of the trials and executions of many Nazis, as well as a camp for Displaced Persons.

Despite the town's somewhat spotty past, it is now a wonderful and beautiful place to visit.

  • I fell in love with Landsberg 55 years ago, and feel the same way today. Landsberg is a beautiful walled medieval city on the bank of a river with a waterfall. Anyone interested in archetecture, picturesque inns, traditional ?German restaurants, impressive churches, art, music, and narrow winding little streets, will not be disappointed. Landsberg is on the Romantic Road and easily reached from Munich in an hour. I'm returning again this October, and as many times after that as possible.
