Nautilus and Birds

Id never seen nor heard of anything like this. I was taking video of the 2nd JetNautilus, more for my own edification/scrutiny to make fine tuning adjustments. While testing and making maneuvers I was startled to see this bird pop up. Even though Id been there for at least 45 minuets and at least a half hr before putting the sub in the water and testing. Then two others came out of the water. Although this was at least ½ hr into the test I saw no bird (s) enter the water. These birds must have been on the bottom and the sub apparently disturbed them (my guess). Then after this first bird flew off another popped up, and then yet a third. Do/can birds sleep underwater? In all the TV nature shows Ive never seen anything like this?


Any ornithologists out there?
