What can a laptop computer due for a child's education?
Schools in Kansas City, Kan., are hoping they'll do a lot.
KMBC's Bev Chapman was at Washington High School Tuesday where they started handing out 5,000 laptops to students.
Washington High was the first metro school to hand out the new MacBooks that are leased by the district.
Many of the students don't have computers at home, Chapman reported.
"This is our chance for our kids to have what everybody else has," technology instructor Alan King said.
Each student with a laptop must have a parent permission slip and a $50 insurance policy.
