Free Speech doesn't mean you get to say whatever you want without being held accountable for it.

It means the government can't imprison you for saying it.

For example. The Government not imprisoning Mel Gibson for saying what he said is Free Speech.

A lot of people going "We are not going to hire Mel Gibson for any of our movies ever again" isn't 'infringing on free speech'

Holding someone accountable for stupid crap they said isn't infringing on free speech.

I have a sort of more confrontational view on this. I think, and I say this as a white guy, that all white people are racist. But not necessarily personally racist, but rather racist because we live in the lap of white privelege. As a 35yo white male professional luxury and privelege just comes to me like its water out a firehose. But did I earn it? What about that guy over there that no one will hire cos he's arab. Doesn't he deserve it too? Its a bigger conversation I admit.

Humor would not exist, if comedians were limited to not commenting on the differences between people. Showtime at the Apollo could not exist, if there weren't black people w/ big foreheads, for instance.

Even in the Middle Ages, when most white Europeans knew nothing about Africans or Asians or anyone who wasn't a white European, people still discriminated against each other over mostly religion. Hell, even being ugly could get you killed. People would just accuse you of witchcraft.

I don't hate other people, but I do make fun of them. I find that to be funny. Of course, they make fun of me too, so it's ok. Most people are like I am I think. There's always that one kid, who's too gay or too ghetto or whatever, and everybody clowns on his ass. Trust me. People don't really stop the grade school bullying later in life. They just internalize it, until it becomes a default response.
