  • Yay! Thanks for sharing your big day with us. Your good news is also good news for me... Oops, did I just say that? I thought I was only thinking it. :-)

  • It's DEFINATELY good news for you, mister nick. But alas, my cell sits silent and unringing....

  • "You could be dying"

Are you implying HIV is a death sentence?

  • Absolutely not. One of the things that got cut out of this vid was me actually saying that this is no longer the 80's, HIV doesn't = death. Sorry if I offended anyone with that easy-to-confuse comment!

  • @indeeboi There is no definitive test that can detect HIV or HIV antibodies in human beings, what you are spreading is false information. Google Donor Screening Assays for Infectious Agents and HIV Diagnostic Assays" this will take you to the FDA. Click on the tests and read the "Intended Use" of the tests. or "The Limitations of the Tests"

  • "An Orasure sample that is reactive on the EIA screening Test and the Western Blot assay is [PRESUMED] to be positive to antibodies to HIV-1"

Orasure is not intended for screening specimens serum, plasma, or urine"

Pretty unreliable test to be taking and you described how you'd crawl up under a rock basically if you tested positive.

"HIV/AIDS" is a disgusting message packaged by a corrupt enterprise.

  • Premier International Diagnostics

Has Home test that are done in 20 min

    Check it out

    Cheap too

  • HIV Test is performed to detect if a person's immune system has been exposed to the HIV virus by testing if they have developed antibodies against the antigens of HIV-I and/or HIV-II.

It doesn't tell you when/how long you have been infected, or whether you have developed AIDS.

  • Hey Chris, I felt compelled to write to you about this video b/c I have worked in the field of public health and here are my thoughts on why its difficult on getting easy access to a Rapid HIV Test: it all comes down to economics.

  • cont'd.

Companies produce clinical diagnostic tests must 1st receive FDA approval, a CLIA waiver, & endorsement by HHS - the kits get validated & proven as effective as traditional tests/currently approved Rapid Tests (at present there are only a few vendors for the Rapid HIV Test). The cost for a company to develop, obtain gov't approval, & manufacture such tests are ultimately charged to the health department by offering them at a price that recoups their money w/some profit.

    cont'd.

  • contd..

Because one test equals one patient result as opposed to traditional testing which is one test equals multiple patient results the test is likely not a first choice among clinics because the cost to test the same number of patients in a "traditional testing" pool using a rapid test kit is higher.

    contd..

  • cont'd....

    - I'm not sure if the kit is completely subsidized in your NY, but I suppose you could tell us if you had to pay anything for it and even if you did pay a certain amount I would suspect the health dept may have offered it at a cost lower than incurred.

To ensure every patient is given accurate results, anyone testing (+) (which I am glad to hear wasn't your case) gets a confirmatory test (ie. a blood sample is drawn). The confirmatory test is also done after the Rapid Test where a patient has had recent activity (less than 3 months from initial test date) where they may not have developed a sufficient antibody concentration that is detectable by the Rapid Test.

Like the message in your video, it is absolutely important for everyone that is sexually active to know their status -be responsible to themselves and to society. To learn more check out the CDC webpage on HIV testing.

I should have become a doc!
