Thank God for King George Vi. Although nobody appreciated him in 1930s.

The more i read about him, the more i think he's such a selfless, dutiful man.

Wallis was certainly in direct contact with the Nazi party, and times was willingly co-opted.

However, Edward VIII, even by the standards of his own day, was a shocking racist and eugenecist, and had political views very much in line with National Socialism.

It has now also been confirmed that he had expectations of being brought to power as a leader, if not a monarch, in the UK if the Nazis won the war, and even in the 1960s was still lamenting the outcome of the war/

You have Got to be kidding me!! I see more ignorant Brits whining about getting rid of the Monarchy then anybody! It's "me," an American, that has to explain to them the huge Hit they'd take economically if they succeeded with that notion. I agree. Edward was merely Stupid when it can to Wallis & Many other things; which also speaks to the moral flaws in his own character. The man clearly was no "leader," & would have been a total disaster for GBritian with Wallis calling the shots. It took two "cobras" (both Queen Mary's) to bring that "viper" (Wallis) down! Edward became whatever Wallis wanted him to become, which makes him just as bad as she was. He was worse then a lap-dog where she was concerned!
