  • Eine musikalische Sternstunde!!!!!! BRAVA

  • @nogrits4me If you read her interviews, you can basically say, that she would have laughed. :D

  • @drewski67 : Googling brought me to a review: concept . . . . the recording studio of the first commercially produced DFOS (still a brilliant recording.) I'm not faulting VPO/Thielemann. Still, there IS competition, Solti/Studer being a standout. The opera is a fantastic fairy tale THAT DOES NOT TAKE PLACE IN A RECORDING STUDIO. This is basically a "staged" concert performance and I have a feeling that the great Leonie Rysanek would have laughed for arse off over this stuff. EUROTRASH.

  • @drewski67

All right. Explain the concept please.

  • I love when people make comments about an entire production based on a 15-minute segment posted on YouTube. I saw this twice over the summer and yes, it is difficult to grasp as first, and wasn't without its ludicrous moments (anyone remember the Vegas-style showgirls in Act II?) but it was quite brilliant. It's just a difficult concept to sustain throughout an opera as long as 'Frau'.. thank God though for VPO/Thielemann and Herlitzius.

  • Help! Is the concept that of a run-through rehearsal of Strauss's great opera? Or is it "recording rehearsal" that we are witnessing? Or a combination of both? The nurse a parody of our worst concept of a nice German hausfrau before she joins the Nazis? This will NEVER erase my memories of the superb Met production from the 1960s and it seems no match for the splendid video from Salzburg with a hair-raising Studer. What is the purpose of distancing an audience from the authors intent?

  • Wow - knocked my socks off - never felt the nurse's contempt and fury like I did here - East German recording studio circa 1963? - bingo - tension is palpable, suitably sinister and threatening - very much in keeping with the building dread of this scene. Can't wait to see the rest of us. Thanks for uploading - you're a peach!

  • this production did not work inside the house, all those petty details went vorbei. Musically yes! was superb. could we wish for frau Meier as die Amme, her last new role?

  • 4 mal vorort gesehen, 4 mal begeistert.

  • Many thanks operazine for sharing. This is youtube at its best, linking great art to aficionados around the world.

Wish there were more Herlitzius, though.
