Former AMW Tchad L1011 Tristar 100, registration TT-DWE, at the Emirates National Auto Museum near Abu Dhabi, UAE. This aircraft was delivered new to British Airways in 1974 and served the airline until it was transferred to British Airways' charter division, Caledonian Airways in 1990. It was leased to Aer Lingus from 1996 to 1997. When JMC Air was formed through a merger of Caledonian Airways & Flying Colours in 1999, the TriStars were retired.

This aircraft later operated as 3C-QRL with Ducor World Airlines, A8-AAB with International Air Services - during which time it was also leased to Georgian Cargo Airlines - and finally TT-DWE with AMW Tchad.

As far as I know it is still in the same condition. Sometimes you can get to it, most times not. Ask the guy in the cafe if the museum is closed. If you buy something from his cafe he may just let you through the gate!

  • It looks so beautiful!!!

  • gonna visit it soon, is it open to the public ?

  • Well you say what a waste, but this beauty ( Loch Earn which i flew on 4 times to Lanzarote from London Gatwick) is still in 1 peice, unlike the others that are in little peices in the u.s desert or recycled into tin cans.

Apparently its being made into a restaurant. if i could afford it i'd buy it too and whack it in my back garden!!

  • what a waste.....

  • what a sad site.....

  • but some day 100 years in the future... a rich billonaire well refurbish that plane and it will fly again if it continues as a museum piece.

  • i flew on this many times ................
