I always liked the Excel and it got Hyundai in the door in the US market. It was not the most reliable car - and very few are still on the road - but at this end of the market it was a bargain. Far better than the Yugo, it might have still been slightly behind the Mazdas, Toyotas and Hondas of the day, but it did show that Hyundai knew how to price their vehicles. Who's laughing today?
