do you need it to be unlocked if you dont want to use it as a phone just as a camera & video camera??

No. You could do that if you wanted to. Since the phone is so old, the quality of the camera is quite bad compared to cheaper, new phones.

You are correct, sir. However you may want to look at the 700 or 750 Treos, the 650 is getting a bit old tech-wise...

i cant find one unlocked . 700 and 750 are cdma like verizon an sprint i think

The 750 is GSM. It may be at&t branded, but can be unlocked, or you could pay like $15 to unlock it with a "mom and pop" cell phone shop.
