  • "Cleaning" brass pistol cases is

not with the media alone !

    The specific Polishes sold by

    Dillon, etc. perform both cleaning

and polishing in the same step..

  • @MaineShag55 It's not necessary to POLISH the brass, but it is necessary to clean if you like your automatic to reload flawlessly and your revolver to clean easily. I hope you enjoyed watching this video.

  • do you deprime prior to cleaning in the 400? Also how do you separate the brass from the cleaning media?

  • @oldPlatoonDaddy - yes, I always de-prime before cleaning. By the way, if you use the wrong medium to clean and the cases have no primers in them, then the medium - walnut shells, corncob, whatever - can get stuck in the primer pockets, and then no more cleaning happens in the pockets. Not much cleaning happens in the pockets anyway, and that's why they make primer pocket brushes. :) When cleaning is done you have to use the separater that comes with the tumbler (from Berry's) to get your brass.

  • @ElmoIsBold : That's just it, really not "cleaning" by simply using untreated corn cob ! Adding Cleaner/polish d/n not take "hours or overnight" to "polish" them, either. The better polishes like Dillon's, have additives in them that, for practical purposes, keep the cases from corroding after they are "cleaned" & polished. Polishing is simply a relative term to indicate they're truly "Clean" ! Brass becoming shiny-bright has nothing to do with being clean and suitable for loading.
