This is just hypnosis. It's about brain washing people, sort of like a cult. It'll only work against people within the same style and it would be completely useless against anyone else. There's nothing martial art about it.

This is so embarrassing in many ways. I can't believe people actually buy this bullshit. It gives the legit Japanese martial arts bad names.

If you think I'm ignorant, bring me any practitioner of this art. I'm no master but I'll still beat him down within 10 seconds.

shot87 it isn't hypnosis :-) but for sure it's completly useless against anyone else from dojo. Only your sense are higly focused. When you think (THINK AND FEEL sensation) to receive something from the other then you react. They don't want go to fight, they wanna only do training and stop. And if you have read what i've written before "Shintaido it's different from a REAL fight.

Aoki sensei happens to be my godfather, he gave me the name "Sho" ^^

I believe this video is slightly misleading though, cause Shintaido has very little to do with violence of any sorts... its more about spiritual experience (though its not a religion in any way) than trying to defeat an enemy

Shintaido it's different from a REAL fight. It teach to obtain a big focalization, concentration and relax. In 2 shintaido practitioner all 2 feel all from the other.

Interesting video.

I'm a long time shotokai karate-do practitioner, involved in some way with shintaido. Beside that I'm a tech guy, working with scientific method every day.

IMHO the word "spiritual" in budo (itself meaning "abandon weapons", in japanese) should not be thought as "metaphysical", but as a part of our nature: even in the (yet) undiscovered aspects of it.

With a good master, those exercises happen to work, even in a "blind study". No magic, just (long) natural training.

A true martial artist would also love this.

Think Masahiro Oki and Takao Nakazawa.

As long as this "Shintaido" is not presented as a martial art I can accept it as a type of quasi religion or perhaps as system for the development of extra sensory or paranormal abilities. If Shintaido is being promoted as a "martial art", then all I can perceive it to be is a farce. Yes a farce right up there with little white poodles doing aerial flips on command and trained bears riding bicycles. Bullshit!

Developing sixth sense feeling only people with sixth sense? What is it for? Shintaido seems like a cult to me. In this video there is nothing what wouldn't be Derren Brown able to do. I can do this myself with a little practice with focus and my friends without any waterfall and without doing weird wannabe martial art moves concurrently with a vowel scream.

That's just my point of view.
