Jesse and Jo visit the construction site of the National Stadium (or Bird's Nest), where the 2008 Summer Olympics will kick off in August. Few foreign news organizations have been able to gain access to the site. Jo and Jesse chat directly with the migrant workers responsible for its construction.

  • Just to let you know that the Li Xinggang submitted the wining design for the Bird's Nest, NOT Ai WeiWei.

take care, and thanks for this insightful slice of Chinese life!

  • agreed

  • lol i know PERFECT teeth:P

  • lol. they say they are the lowest class in China and almoat all of them have the teeth of a movie star...

  • lol i think the bird's nest is the best looking stadium i ve ever seen. I just appreciate the complexity, the smooth streams, and the blending of nature and architecture within the building. It's gorgeous!

  • These are the true superheroes of our world.

  • Thanks for making the video. It's interesting how supportive the workers are of the Olympics, given that they have virtually no opportunity to attend it themselves.

  • Roving reporting is very interesting and gives insight to the construction workers' way of life. From your report, the workers that you interviewed are very dedicated to their work and families. The workers seem to be happy to be able to send money to their families.
