  • To the Vai bashers you should consider hat Vai learned the entire set only days before the show - having never heard any of the music previously. So yea maybe he didn't quite nail everything as on the record but I wonder how many guitarists at the time (even now) could pull off something like this under similar conditions. Too many whiny garage / bedroom shredders spend months learning one song or perfecting one arpeggio. Try getting a whole show under belt 3 days before performing it live.

  • この映像は初めてイングヴェイ脱退し、スティーヴヴァイが

    確か、これは新宿厚生年金会館のライブです。

    僕も観に行きました。

  • @bowiemott awesome performance

  • BIG in JAPAN!

  • boy is vai ugly in this video

  • @bowiemott preach man... But also im sure spent a while "bedroom shredding" simply to attain the techniques to play like that (which is outta his style)

  • @bowiemott Personally, I think Vai runs many circles around Yngwie. He's just a more rounded and solid player period.

  • @bowiemott should also point out that there were those at his first show with Alcatrazz who knew he wasn't Malmsteen so he said there was lots of confusion amongst the audience in attendance. There is a link here on YouTube of this first show where you can hear some fans jeering at Vai. Check out "Steve Vai's First Concert with Alcatrazz".

  • @DickLodge68 Yes he heard the music previously - like 3 days before the gig at which point he initiated learning the tunes and had some rushed rehearsals. His Guitar World Interview from the 80s made this pretty clear. He said at his first gig with Alcatrazz there were many in the audience who thought HE was Malmsteen - this is how fast this all happened.
