  • Thanks for the video. I always had trouble using thick CA. I actually have been getting fantastic results with a method I learned at cafinish.com. I get a super-glossy finish every time. With thick CA it never seems to be consistent like the method I use. Just my 2-cents worth.

  • @eja119hotmailcom Thanks for the tip!

  • I noticed that you sand down to 800 grit. I use a lot of that (or so my hardware store says) in my woodworking. But in recent years the brand they carry has rough spots on it and I actually have to "condition" it by rubbing pieces together then using new pieces between 320 and 400 grit and keeping track of those until they become smoother than 600. Have you had similar problems. What I use is red resin coated fabric and says its for metal polishing. I need to check the brands and get back.

  • @SpiderWingz No, this isn’t a problem I’ve run into with abrasives.

  • Thanks for the video. Having only turned 4 pens I was looking for a glossy finish to my pens. This gave me the finish I was looking for.. Great work.

  • @gabesphotography Great to hear you're finding our videos helpful in your shop!

  • Great tutorial. Can you also use butchers wax for the final polish? Again, great vid and thanx for sharing.

Yea I like that variable speed dial too. I would like to know too. It would be a pain to keep switching the belt on my Jet Midi every time I had to switch for sanding and finishing.

  • Thank you for this video. I had tried CA before, but I didn't let it cure enough before sanding. The results were less than optimal. Now that I've seen you do it, I'll be better the next time. I will be looking at more of your videos.

  • @mykmykmykkk Yes, it does but you can clean them. You can scrape off the dried glue with a razor blade. You can stack them up on the mandrel and cut it off with an old chisel as well.

  • Hi.

What brand of Lathe are you using in this video. I like the variable speed dialing system, and where are they available?

  • Thanks for the video. What were the curing times between the coats?
