Because she was cheated and lied by her boyfriend. He said he had to work but he came in with her best friend and kissed right in the front of her in the dark. That was why it's called " SAD MOVIE ". Even though, the movie was a cartoon. I bet most teenager girls like this song a lot.

Well this did happen to me in the 60's, but they did not sit in front of me, so when we got back to school on Monday i gave my mate a hiding, and dump my girl in front of her friends that sent her running away crying, lucky for me she turned out to be such a bitch in the end.

The color cartoon was before the movie. This is something that us old guys, and gals know back in the 50's & 60's. The movie was not a cartoon. Listen to the song carefully, and you'll see what I mean. Almost all movies back then began with a cartoon, or news reel.
