When Britain needed a strong King the most, we were sent George VI, who carried us through the war with courage and dignity.

In the U.K., in order to be a good king, you have to be a good man. And George VI was indeed a good man and a great King!

God save the King!

He seems to have gotten over his stammer, or at least vastly improved in this film. Bloody good show!
-
@mickjai his stammer was an obstacle which didn't hamper his determination to be a good king and lead the Empire

@BritishRoyalFilms Which is why Charles will screw up big time when QE2 passes away.
-
@UncleMikeNJ Had he lived another 20 yrs or so or longer then I am certain that he would have enjoyed leading his nation. His reign was always one of struggle, personally and nationally, only in eventual post war prosperity and stability was enjoyment able to become a part of British and its Monarch's life!

long life the king

This was from May 1951, and the festival continued through September. George VI's left lung was removed in September 1951 and he died in February 1952. He had been ill for some time when he gave the speech.
