Who says mobile DJs must have crappy sound and light shows? This is DJ Maskell's Large lighting package, demonstrated at a local high school prom.

Its not a perfect video, as the lights were on autopilot for a moment so I could run out and record this video real quick, but it does give you the general idea.

Its fully DMX controlled with sound responsive programs, and utilizes wireless DMX to minimize cord runs. The 4,200 watt sound system is carefully EQ'ed and limited to maximize power and sound without distortion or blasting.

And of course, the DJ is a seasoned nightclub professional, playing every week in major nightclubs in Washington DC, which means this is NOT your typical lame-ass hired party DJ. This is more like a mobile nightclub.

  • talking about nightclub dj's if your doing nighclubs every weekend how are you able to do a prom. Since i have been in the mobile dj business for almost 15 years i think you need to try some mobile gigs for a while instead of club, it wasnt bad dont get me wrong but i think there was a bit of over kill on the lighting it takes away from the rest of the performance

  • @highvoltagesounds001 There is no such thing as too much lighting. My edge has essentially been bringing a nightclub to peoples' events, and its an angle that has worked exceptionally well over the 10 years I've doing mobile DJ events.

That being said, the lighting looks less overwhelming & more organized when I'm at the controls instead of walking around w/ a camera.

Nightclub work has been concurrent with mobile DJ work. When I don't have a club gig, I'm free to do mobile, and vice versa.

  • @djmaskell i do think there is such a thing as to much lighting, and when you say nightclub work is concerant with mobile work, they are completely opposite of each other. mobile djs need to be diversified and not just know club music or club lighting. for example would you take that much lighting to a wedding, I know i wouldnt but to each there own... good luck in the future

  • @highvoltagesounds001 Ah yes, but I'm not running an "all-around" mobile service. I've carved out a successful high-end niche market that caters to those wanting a nightclub-style DJ.

When it comes to weddings, I run a normal, traditional reception like a regular DJ, then detonate it when the dancefloor opens. Lighting varies by customer preference.

Nearly 100% of my wedding customers have attended another wedding, event, or club where I have played, so they know what they're getting into!

  • Great stuff !!

  • @djmaskell lighting is cool.

  • @Chazyorkshire The audio is muffled and quiet because of the camera's microphone, not the sound system.

The song was their senior class anthem, so I'm not too keen on telling the client "no" on that one. And clearly you must also be blind too, because if you look at the crowd while the beat is still going, you see the seniors jumping up and down, fist pumping, and rocking out.

  • That system doesn't sound loud enough for that room and you shouldn't play that song even if it was a request, it's outdated and wasn't even good when it was new. the crowd weren't responding.
