since an SMG shoots a smaller pistol cartridge it is "below" an MG in power. whatever dude i don't care anymore

You missed out on my joke, but seeing as you're being argumentative, so will I. A machine gun is a gun that fires fully automatically. A sub machine gun is not 'below a machine gun' as you say. You're right about the pistol cartridge, but it is a machine gun, as it fires fully automatic as well. Fact.
