  • It's a little strange that you posted this, yet I watched the whole thing, so who am I to judge?

  • I've been a goalie since age 5, so although it is weird, I always like to watch the goalies during warmups...weird, I know, but it's what I do! :P

  • he cant do a split? lol

  • @eugene680 Now that's what im talking about! :D

  • Remember Arturs Irbe who played for the San Jones Sharks? He's trademark was stretching post to post. He even made a split save. Also Dominik Hasek was known for making difficult saves because of his flexibility.

  • @eugene680 Well.. You can get harder shots for example from long range.. Splits are very useful against shootouts and different kind of a stuff.. So, better be flexible than "ironbar"

  • I don't play hockey but I practice Taekwondo. I can do the splits 180 degrees. More if on a stretching machine. I would stretch for one hour before I even leave the house to go practice. And I've been doing it for 14 years now.

  • @eugene680 It's helpful. Really, anyone can become flexible with the right amount of work. Every morning when I get up, I stretch for 20 minutes. I do it again in the evening. It sounds like a lot of work, but it pays off. I've been doing it since I was very young, but there are guys who start at an older age and are able to do it. You CAN compensate for flexibility with positioning, but you will drastically reduce the risk of injury if you're at least somewhat flexible.

  • Is it important to have flexibility to be a goalie? And I mean a good goalie.

  • @eugene680 I'ts more easy with all those pads, trust me, im a goalie :)

  • @KingBeagle24 I think people are just drawn in by how flexible they are

  • Maybe he could do full splits, he just can't with all that padding on him.
