My father, John E. Espanet, passed away in September. He was a member of Merrill's Marauders, 475th infantry, 5307 provisional. He never talked about the war, but as I research, I realize that he must have had many demons, regarding this war and his service in it. He served for two years, before being sent home with malaria. I wish he knew and felt that he was a hero, but he didn't. I will miss my dad...Judith Espanet Duft

I am proud to say that my father, Johnnie S. Fist was one of the original Marauders who volunteered when he was still on Guadalcanal. He was on the Orange combat team. He was wounded but made it back home. He died of a heart attack on Dec. 3rd 1978. I still miss him .

My grandfather Earl R Davis from Terre Haute, Indiana was part of Merrill's Mauraders. He sustained a bayonet injury to his back losing 2/3rds of one lung, he spent months recovering. He is almost 90 years old and is married to his wife of 67 years Norma Jean Davis. They are part of the greatest generation.

This Thug as he calls himself is nothing more than an oxygen thief.
I saw that you have a picture of Monument Valley. My Dad grew up riding horses to school and loved westerns and i do also. He passed away in 1999 and his wish was to have his ashes scattered there. I flew from the east coast and honored his wish. Just wanted you to know that. Mike Blankenship USArmy vet
