in the modern age the camera has replaced the pen and the video screen has replaced the paper. People are manipulated now because they cannot read and write the new dominant medium.

You miss the point completely. Read aldous huxley's BRAVE NEW WORLD REVISITED. He as the spearhead of a media literacy movement in the US that was shutdown by the powers that be. Especially by religious leaders. And mikey is now a paid mouthpiece of the growing cults in the US.

Many military strategists have used Hitlers techniques to mislead, the naive citizens of the countries they are about to attack and to mislead the citizens of their own country to justify the attack, Bush and his war machine was just the latest. You have to separate the media from the independant reporter of current events that can't get the air-time. You-tube is a media source and is not in the same category.

The corporate libertarians promote corporate monopoly and restrictions on individual liberty and speech. Corporate libertarians believe in conservative economic policies and cultural liberalism. Libertarians are the enemy of American freedom. we need the government of and for the people starting with media ownership limits. Youtube is great, but still its reach is severely limited.

One of the traits I noticed about Bill O'Reilly is that there are no liberals, no lefties who are moderate; they are always "far left." Thanks for the great comment. The media leans left on social issues and right on economics. That is actually the ideal corporate-commercial environment. it also important that the corp media keep the populace divided in every single way. we are polarized by race, religion, region, gender, age, even sport teams, whether we have children or not. Monopoly is the father of fascism. Monopoly puts politics over profits in the ultimate pursuit of power.

You're both right -- the media leans left on social issues, but tilts way right on economic issues. The reasons are largely as you have both stated: the new consumer demography (i.e. women now have $), and the highly concentrated ownership of the media by a few, very powerful corporate entities.
