DJ Red Alert is recognized and respected worldwide as one of the founding fathers of Hip-Hop music and culture! After earning a rep spinning at clubs all over downtown Manhattan, he started to DJ on air, working at NYC's KISS FM for over a decade. He also joined forces with BDP and helped launch the careers of Native Tongue-sters A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, and Black Sheep. He's released several compilation albums over the years, frequently judges DMC competitions, has been inducted into both the Rap and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fames, and has appeared in over 50 videos.
He has received numerous awards and accolades including a special award at the first annual Rap Hall of Fame Awards show.

My world changed when I found Red Alert and Chuck Chillout on 98.7 KISS FM in 1987. It was a time when hip hop was on the radio for 6 hours a week. Red Alert was connected to the inner core of the hip hop movement, it's dj's, producers and mc's. A record would be recorded in Brooklyn on Thursday, pressed on Friday and "world premiered" on Saturday. What I find really disturbing about this video is that outside KRS, no one was able to articulate anything meaningful. Vocabulary is a toolbox.
