At the age of 55, Susannah McCorkle reportedly took her own life in 2001 by leaping from the 16th floor of her Manhattan apartment balcony. This widely acclaimed jazz vocalist left behind some beautiful music including this 1977 recording of "I'm Old-Fashioned" from her "Johnny Mercer Songbook".
I meet this really neat gal here in SRQ...she was writing a book about Irving Berlin. So tragic she couldn't get well. G-d Bless her soul.

What a shame to lose such a great artist. Not sure I like the arrangement of this beautiful ballad. Seems like a nice tune turned runaway train. Disappointing with such a great voice to put that much emphasis on an over the top arrangement.
Sounds 6/8 to me.

Isn't this in 5/4 time at the start? Very nice all the way through though.
