  • I have a exact same bike as shown .. same color. Bought new in 1974... and still ride it. I agree with zoomustard, The original saddle was an Ideale, and in the video, it looks like an Ideale Saddle. (Does it actually have Brooks embossed on it?) The Ideale Saddle company was a French Company and is no longer in business.

The Huret rear derailer is the "Huret Jubile" and hence the name of the Bike. The Huret Jubile derailer is the lightest derailer ever to be in production.

  • @smithstephenw Yes, I knew the bike got its name from the derailleurs, but I had never seen another one in person so I wasn't familiar with the Jubile derailleurs.

The saddle is indeed a genuine Brooks leather saddle made in England. Like I said this was my dad's bike, I'm guessing he put Brooks saddles on all his bikes back then.

  • This bike is was introduced to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Huret.

  • Just bought an all original Motobecane Gold and black Nomade 2. Pristine shape for sale.

  • @oldschoolmechanic: I remember purchasing mine in 1974. It was a new model that just had come into the LBS. I had planned to buy a Raleigh Super Course or a Crescent.

But I loved the Jubile's great paint job and attention to detail. It is still a nice ride and seems fast ...well in comparison to my Surly LHT

Great ... thanks for posting the video.

  • Nice bike. Mine is red. The original saddle was an Ideale so the brooks in an upgrade

  • Nicely done! I owned 2 new vintage Motobecanes, a '79 Super Mirage and '81 Jubile Sport. In '81, the Grand Jubile (Motobecane's spelling) was the "top of the line touring machine that guarantees miles of delight for the non-racing afficionado." The '81 listed for $499.95, weighed 25.1 lbs. & was Vitus 172 double butted throughout. Motobecane was always a class act w. the nicest finish of any French bike. Today, I'm still on a Motobecane: my '10 carbon Immortal Force is a 16.9 lb. sweet ride.
