that may be so,however i seriuosly doubt it rappers delight came out in 1979 while rap dirty came out in 1981 in us commercially and obviuosly rap dirty never recieved any airplay hence rappers delight first rap song ever sorry my friend. as i stated before dont get me wrong i love that song its the cut.

I'm just going by what Mr. Reid has told me. I am in Blowfly's band and have heard him say Rap Dirty was the first rap song, thousands of times. Not the first to get airplay, but the first rap song periord. He even coined the term "rap" as well. Out of the 100's of cities around the world we've been to, with the press eagerly waiting to talk with Blowfly, not one of them has ever challanged him claim about Rap Dirty.

Sorry my friend, Clarence wrote rap dirty in 1965, beating rappers delight by many years. Henry Stone told him it was the worst shit he ever heard so Blowfly took it to Austria and Germany and sold over a million copies.

@Moonpippi man I am German and I lived in Austria and haven't heard this song probably before the eighties, no doubt it is a great one, but I also have a promo 12inch from Rapper's Delight from 1977 on Sugarhill Records...UK, yes you read right UK...it's the 15 min version. When I researched I mostly found that it developed on the streets before 1974, which in your case would bring us back to Clarence to be the first rapper but either way guys, let's just fuckin' enjoy those classics....Peace

Just to add to the argument and confusion, the way Blow came up with Rap Dirty was when he was thrown on to the Apollo stage w/o any prep - sort of a "Fkuck you" trial by fire to the new guy (Clarence)... so he just had the band riff and he started busting out rhymes. This is early 60's.

"1st rap song EVER'?? Jiggapleez! Even Blondie's "RAPture" came out before Dirty Rap did . Rapture was released in 1980 & is credited as the first song containing rap elements to reach #1, BEFORE 'Rapp Dirty' was released. Even Blow Fly says Rapper's Delight was his basis of his dirtier version he wrote AFTER it (which wasn't in '65 people). Besides, rap has been around in some form or another long before Sugar Hill Gang did it in '79. You're all kidding yourselves if you believe otherwise.
