This song is probably the best example of Chan's early sound, coming out of the new york noise scene with bands like Sonic Youth she had a similar gritty style in her instrumentals, (Steve Shelley did drums on her first two albums) but with a vocal style that's all her own. This song is so good it actually appears on both her first two albums, which were recorded on the same day.

thank you soo sooo much whoever you are for posting this, i've been in love with this song since i first heard it in "The Eternal" like 8 or 9 yeas ago. i kept searching and searching and i finally found it ^_^. the whole soundtrack to the movie was better than the movie. it took me about 6 years to find "Johnny Was" by stiff little fingers. let's hear it for little irish b- movies!
