  • Using higher octane WILL NOT do anything on gas mileage or performance. This has been tested again and again and it has no improvement. Higher octane is only needed in certain vehicles designed to run specifically on higher octane.

  • Octane levels in gas will not make you get better gas mileage, But it will help prevent your fuel air mixture in your engine from detonation or pre-ignition.

  • @benfirst Then how come when I run high octane in my camaro my MPGs go up 3-4?? Driving exactly the same every week?? Oh yea. Because modern cars accommodate for octane levels with knock sensors and ignition and fuel timing.

  • I ride a Yamaha 250 Virago. I get real world 78 mpg! Awesome.

  • WHY IS IT THAT:

Every last Ehow idiot is wrong and teaches you incorrectly?

Every last Expert village video includes the opposite of an expert?

Octane means one thing, HARDER TO DETONATE. Its for higher compression engines and engines designed for it. Its actually LESS EXPLOSIVE the HIGHER the number is! FACT.

Idiots who put "premium" into "regular" cars are positively going to get less mileage and stand a damn good chance of ruining the engine, bending pistons, etc.

  • also, don't use BP fuel. they have a lubricant in them that is not good for bikes.

  • @benfirst

i disagree, higher octane burns slower also vehicles that require higher octane is to receive its full performance output.

  • where do they find these eHow people? I've seen some bad ones. :3

  • SPAM! >:(

  • why would you care about gas mileage on a bike?

  • lol!1:21 dunlop!...what does that mean?hahaha
