Helsinki Mobile Phone Orchestra playing Christmas Bells (in Finnish Joulun kellot). The sounds come from the mobile phones (N95), by using the FM-synthesis method on the Mobilo Phone platform created by Jari Kleimola.

Helsinki MoPho (since 2008) is an experimental ensemble performing music with mobile devices. The phones - the instruments - create sounds which are controlled with hand gestures and keypads. The mobility of the instruments takes the ensemble far beyond ringtones by creating interesting 3D soundscapes.

Players from left to right: Henri Penttinen, Tuomo Raitio, Jari Kleimola, Antti Jylhä, Tapani Pihlajamäki, Olli Santala, Hannu Pulakka, Henna Tahvanainen.

Thanks to Sami Oksanen for borrowing his mini xmas tree!
