"Criminal Assets Recovery" (CAR Project) Conference

EU funded programme, implemented by the Council of Europe, "Criminal Assets Recovery", kicked off with the Start-Up Conference on Tuesday, July 7, 2010, at 10:00h, at the Kontinental Hotel (Milentija Popovica 7b).

The Conference was open by Serbian Interior Minister and First Deputy Prime Miniser Ivica DAČIĆ, Serbian Justice Minister Snežana MALOVIĆ, President of the Supreme Court of Cassation Nata MESAROVIĆ, Serbian Public Prosecutor Zagorka DOLOVAC, Head of Delegation of the EU to Serbia, Ambassador Vincent Degert the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Ambassador Constantin Yerocostopoulos and Ms Marja RUOTANEN, Director of Cooperation, Directorate General of Human Rights and Legal affaires, Council of Europe.

After the opening remarks, a working session on "ECHR jurisprudence and challenges in Serbia" with local and international experts is scheduled from 1130 to 1400h, when conclusions should be presented.

The Purpose of this Project is to enhance the institutional capacity and efficient functioning of the Directorate for Management of Seized and Confiscated Assets at the Ministry of Justice, the Financial Investigation Unit of the Ministry of Interior as well as other key institutions involved in the search, seizure, management and confiscation of the proceeds from crime in the Republic of Serbia.
