In this Askwith Forum on February 26, 2010, Jeff Duncan-Andrade draws from Tupac Shakurs powerful metaphor of the rose that grows from concrete, as well as research in fields such as public health, social epidemiology, and psychology. Duncan-Andrade explores the concept of hope as essential for developing effective urban classroom practice. (Note: This forum was part of the annual Alumni of Color Conference.)

  • Lecture begins at 12:55

  • This is an awesome lecture. He uses a lot of stories from real life and ties it to research with a very engaging presentation style. Skip the first 10 minutes for there is nothing there since they had technical difficulties at the beginning and it took them about 10 minutes to solve the issue. The lecture is awesome though and very on point. Anyone interested in social justice will love this lecture.
