Coming soon - The unfiltered stories of the street musicians who play in Washington, D.C. From the highs of having the freedom to play their music, their way, everyday to the lows of living without a security net and sometimes being harassed by the authorities. This documentary will take an in-depth look into the lives of the people who greet Washingtonians and tourists every morning and evening. The documentary also hopes to provoke change in D.C. by lobbying local leaders to implement a sustainable street artists program so that they can perform without being harassed and arrested.

  • Yu know, I filmed Raycurt in NYC - really nice guy. Totally funny and happy. Good to see him here :)

  • @omnigut1 yeah Raycurt is the man. I've been doing a lot of projects with him and he always seems to find his way into my movies in a cameo or musical role.

  • LOL...I captured two of the musicians while were there last summer!!!!! I got some underground and got the steel drummer by the National Archives...I sooooooo loved their music, and YES I tipped!!!!

  • @TexasMom17 Yes, Rudy, the steel plan player, is a good guy. He got fined so many times in the brief 6 months that he played in the streets of D.C. that he decided to go to Barcelona for 1 year or so to play in a more street performer friendly city. I guess in Europe in general it's more accepted. Are there any street musicians in Texas?

  • Hey, you might be interested in The Busking Project (google it) - we're filming street performers all over the world. Not coming to Washington, but I've heard a lot of good things about the talent there. thanks for making the video, I'm going to post something about it on our site.

  • I live in the Metro Area and I've always been fascinated, sometimes enlightened by the street performers. I've walked blocks out of my way searching for the source of an elusive note on the air. I'm so glad someone feels that DC's (or any other city's) street musicians are worth more than the small change we drop. I can and have spent hours listening. Thank you.

  • Great, great documentary. I go to D.C. on my weekends just to play for the public, and when somebody smiles and just comes and talks to you, it's one of the greatest, indescribable feelings. Not to mention it's just amazing fun.

  • You did a great job on this.

  • @jimbobsoysizzle OH...and I wanted to see the bucket drummer/band! Didn't see it though! Saw the quartet underground in the subway. Got a smidgeon of a video of them I haven't uploaded yet. It was rush hour and family was rushing me once again...lol

  • @jimbobsoysizzle Rudy was there in D.C. last summer in August. Hubs and I went to Las Vegas and they're there big time! As far as Texas, not where I reside. There MAY be some around, but I'm not sure. Probably in the Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston areas. Here, you'll see a wildly crazy guy on a street corner giving sermons to the air...lol
