How I, personally, clean up the roots of my dreadlocks. Makes them look much neater, in my opinion. Judging from the comments I have received, many other lovely dreadies do maintenance on their dreads in the same way!

@bubbles8975 Definitely buy a simple, non-residue soap to wash them. Keeps them clean and helps them lock :)

When you first got dreads did you wash them with regular shampoo? I want a couple dreads to begin with so i'll still have a lot of non-dreaded hair... would i just wash it with a regular shampoo or is there somethuing else i should do?

you dont want to use a hook bigger then a 1mm i use a 0.6 which is VERY hard to find i buy mine online

It looks a lot better when you fix em using the hook, I do it to my boyfriend's dreads and they look great. When people tell you crocheting is bad for dreads they might be talking about when people just stab the hook in over and over. Love your rambling btw :)
