The Mizell's production is recognisable the instant the needle drops in the groove. Both consummate musicians, masters of multi layered complex vocal harmonies, yet little known and under appreciated outside the world of the jazz funk & soul aficionado.Theirs is a quality distinctly lacking in the disposable ephemera that of modern dance music, which lacks any of the depth & sophistication brought to the table by their genius in both performance & production.Stone groove merchants of yesteryear!

Big respect to the" professor" DB and the groove he created during this golden period of music

Of course everyone knows they're referring to one Donaldson Toussaint L'Ouverture Byrd II when the words "Return of The King" are repeated. Fantastic post.

Because originality has been lost. Jazz was inventive and emotionally inspiring. Now it's an instrumental version of ANY song. That just doesn't capture a world audience.
