i shot 640x480 30fps movies of the waxing gibbous moon this past weekend. i had to use a pair of polarizing filters that i could adjust the angle between to get the amount of light correct. the software i used for processing includes:

Virtual Dub, available at:
http://www.virtualdub.org/

Registax, available at:
http://www.astronomie.be/registax/index.html

and gimp to get it into a form i could use in a movie:
http://gimp.org/

pre-emptively, to any moon hoaxers who come across this, the telemetry could have been tracked by any country with a reasonable radar or radio astronomy program. like the soviet union. i'm sure that in some archive in modern day russia is some tape showing an object in orbit around the moon, followed by two objects, one of which descends to the surface. telemetry would also detect that object rising to orbit again and mating with the object that remained in orbit. we didn't have robots that could do that then; we still don't now. and the soviets would have called us out if we hadn't actually done it. no way would they have let that go. they had incontrovertable evidence to the contrary.

  • thanks! the stacked polarizers are a way of substituting for a neutral density filter. i think she got them from edmund scientific.

  • Great results! I may have to try the polarizer.

  • doh! i thought i hit "reply" for the one below. that's what i get for sleep-commenting...

  • I agree, you have a very soothing voice. Kind of like the Painter show, Bob Ross. Ohhh, Wee, (stretch), it's just about bed time.

  • The videos that I have recorded with IC Capture are working in Registax. I set the codec to "unspecified"

  • ok hold on to your seat..i believe i seen some moon poop ! Nasa we got a problem !

  • this is going to sound weird but i love the way your voice sounds. its sootheing.. haha. great vid btw.
