You have every right to be proud of that trophy!! BTW do you find the accubonds better than the Hornady interbonds? thanx for the vids!

@lplozada Thanx. I read on a website that accubonds only retain about 41% of their wieght @ 100 yards & 71% @ 1000 yards. Where as Interbonds keep 80-90% of it's wieght from 50-350 meters. thanx for the vids :)

@pureprotea1 7mm? I'm guessing then that a 30-30 wouldn't cut it? I'd love to go hunting in Africa. Bushveld's Safaris has good prices. Much cheaper than hunting in the US. I've looked into Dall Sheep hunting in Alaska and Canada-$14,000 minimum. So $4,000-$7,000 isn't so bad.

A heafshot would've been nice for the camera but terrible for the taxidermist. Hunting Africa was a special experience for me and I kept this one for a wallhanger in addition to keeping the meat for camp.

@lplozada Thanx. visit SA soon!

No problem posting the clips - glad you liked them :) I got much better performance from the Accubonds than the numbers you saw on the web. There were two bullets recovered from my kudu (you don't see/hear the second shot on this clip): both retained exactly 105 gr. of the original 140 gr weight (75%). Another bullet was recovered from my gemsbok that penetrated the shoulder bone - that bullet retained 100 gr. (71%). I was very impressed with those numbers.
Great shot. I also love hunting Springbok and have a.264WM ready to go for when I return to RSA. The 7-08 is very similar/identical to the 7x57 which I also have and use for all deer species. Many thx for sharing the video.

Thank you very much and no problem sharing the video. Yes, the 7mm-08 is nearly ballistically identical to the 7x57, but I prefer the lighter short action, hence my using the 7mm-08. I think you're gonna do well with that .264WM. Best of luck on your hunt in RSA!

Last July I went springbok hunting in Calitzdorp. It was fanstastic, 5 in an hour, all clean shots straight to the heart. And as a side note, they are delicious on a spit braai :D

That sounds like a helluva hunt! I can definitely see that if you get a good bunch of them close (but not too close), they could be ripe for the picking in numbers like that. As you suggested, I'll have to try spit cooking one next time out there.

Why did you choose a 7mm over all ather calibers? I dont know much about 7mm because they are not so common here in SA. could you tell me why, according to you, the 7mm is better than a 270. thanx a million.

I was suprised to see that even my PH had not heard of 7mm-08 as it's a fairly well-known caliber in the US. I chose it because it combines a flat trajectory with plenty of killing power and low recoil. It did a very good job in these regards, taking everything from a steenbok all the way up to kudu and gemsbok. I actually would not rate a 7mm-08 over a .270, as I do not have much .270 experience at all. However, the 7mm-08 fits a short action which helps keep the weight down.
