Fred Silver was my piano coach and good friend. I originally took this video at his request so he'd have an audition DVD in case someone hadn't seen him before. Search 'Ike Reeves plays flashy piano arrangements' and you can count how many of his great ideas I've managed to steal, with his permission of course. He completely revolutionized my approach to the instrument. Thank you Fred!

  • This tape is lovely. Rare to hear Fred play without interruptions- When i lived with Stan Freeman they would often do "two piano" arrangements.. love the sound of two pianos. Stan recorded a lot with Cy Walter. John De Maio and Stan would fool around at two pianos (mostly classical) and "that" was unforgettable. But- those days are gone with the wind ~ as is all good music.

  • @StuartLou I had never heard of Cy Walter until a piano buddy turned me on to his recordings. Fred 's playing here is an example of what I first heard when I saw him on a gig, and is similar to Cy. The only non-show recording I had of Fred on piano is the De Maio duo 'classical style' concert.

Surprisingly, Fred hadn't mentioned Cy during the time I studied piano with him, although he showed me other pianists' styling devices.

If you enjoy organ music, check out my vid of the EL 90.
