I put the water at room temp and maybe a little cooler. You can start with a water bottle to start him out. for the shower I had put him at the back of the tub where the water wasn't hitting him directly and just used my hands to cup some water and sprinkle on him. I also sat on the edge of the tub with my feet in to start so he didn't feel I just lefted him. In no time he walked up to the water and got right in . I still saty to check the temp in case temp fluctuates which could hurt him.
