A butcher is a butcher, be it a religious or non-religious person. Too many people were killed in the name of god. There was nothing holy in burning innocent people on fire by the Holy Inquisition. So there will be always radical aggressive fanatics and sick people that will transform an apparently positive idea/current/phenomenon that begins to root in a society, into a tool to gain power and to manipulate the masses.

do your self a favor and read up on Anna German's life (the original performer of this song). her family like many others suffered much from the regime - undeservingly. likewise, many did not survive. just because you or your family did not have to endure the same hardships, don't assume everyone was just as lucky.
also, everything you mentioned above was paid for with exceptionally high taxes. not to say that its in any way 'wrong,' but don't kid yourself claiming it was 'free.'

Eastarchangel, it was not dificult to "survive" - since everything was for free - no rents, everyone owned an own home, free healthcare, free vacations, free education etc - because AFTER Stalin and Lenin we - a few generations had a BEUTIFUL LIFE in social justice and high social net! U are just envy!

amazing that these people survived the ruthless communist state and were able to sing about hope. no thanks to Lenin, Trotsky and Stalin, the unholy troika and their non- christian butchers. may great russia return to orthodoxy in ressurection.
