As per request. Here is how I downgrade my Captivate to the factory Android 2.1 version (Eclair). I have return one of my phones to AT&T like this and there was no problem with warranty.

++ Look at my other videos on how to unlock the SIM and how to install non-Market apps on any Galaxy S phone.

--- Look at my other video on how to upgrade to Android Ver 2.2 (Froyd)

** Look at my other video that I did comparing 2.1 vs 2.2 on my Captivate .

**** Here is one of the places you could find the original Samsung Android 2.1 -it is easy to restore to the original state. You will need to find and download this ROM (file): I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0.rar

There are a few places on the web, here is one I i used:
w w w . multiupload.com/8FL4J28GWO

Just follow my video. It should only take you about 5 to 7 minutes. I am not sure , but I don't think that you need the USB drivers to install this 2.1 ROM.

When you put you phone on the download mode (by pressing the Vol button (- and +) while connecting your USB cable to the PC. The ODIN 3 Windows program will automatically connects to the phone and all you have to do is to press Start.

Wait until finish and reboot. It should even restart (reboot) 2 times. Watch the video and good luck.

PS- THIS ANDROID 2.1 ROM IS FOR AT&T GALAXY S CAPTIVATE PHONE ONLY. I AM NOT SURE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU INSTALL ON OTHER GALAXY S PHONES.

I HOPE THIS VIDEO WILL HELP. GOOD LUCK. AND PLEASE VOTE IF YOU LIKED THE VIDEO.

  • Hi, there are many places you can download the drivers for the Galaxy Tab. It is not easy to paste a link of any site on Youtube.. but just do a search on Google for "drivers for galaxy tab" - look at he first 3 or 4 links... they all have the sites for you to download. the USB drivers , depnding on which Windows computer you have, 32 or 64 bits.

    Good luck...

  • do you lose all your aps and data when downgrading?

  • @bcohen333 - Yes you would need to reinstall all your app after the downgrade or upgrade to any new Firmware...

  • Thank you!

  • @guddegnaw - you are welcome, i am glad it worked well for you too.

  • My god damn phone wont turn on now......

  • Hi, can you help please? I installed the downgrade and the "AT&T" logo appears, it doesn't boot past this stage. I can't put it into download mode or factory reset. The phone now doesn't turn on at all, if I send it back to the manufacturer under warranty will they be able to detect that the phone has been tampered with now it is completely dead? Any views on this would be grateful! Thanks
