Tim Thomas makes two great saves vs Florida 11/12/09 HD

2009 Vezina Trophy winner Tim Thomas makes two great saves against the Florida Panthers, one on Nathan Horton during a 5 on 3 and the other on Steven Reinprecht in the shootout, on November 12, 2009.

Thomas: Its a desperation save, but its a desperation save with some sort of plan, Thomas said. I dont want to put [the blocker] down too early, because I dont want to show him that he should just go up. Its about timing. Its kind of suckering him in to shooting low. At first you keep your stick about 8 inches in the air, so you can sell it that if hes going to lift it, you can just whack it. Then it goes on the ice, and then its just timing. Youve just got to get it down at the right time.

Tukka Rask has played for Boston the last 3 years (rookie) and is .925 and 2.25. Awesome numbers!!! Better than almost every goalie in the league!

Thomas this past season in shootouts went 1 win and 5 losses allowing 9 goals on only 19 shots for a .526 save percentage. Also one penalty shot against him, went in! Thomas was 22nd amongst goalies in PK save percentage at .889, not first or even third, but 22nd! Less team in front of him, weaker stats!

@TheGoalieGuru Cool, so did luongo and everyone thought he was hot shit. So did the other teams that made the playoffs. Tim Thomas deserved this award. Whya re you taking credit awa from the goalies? I thought it was the hardest position. And yeah the defence helps a shitload. But did you even watch him play during the playoffs????? He  def carried the team at times man.

@TankIV Against Toronto this year Thomas was below average in three starts with only one win. Does that mean the Leafs goalies were better?

@TheGoalieGuru He just gets better as he gets older it seems. And every goalie has there bad times. Now he is playeing better then any other goalie. Most importantly he won the Conn Smythe and saved the B's asses at times in the playoffs. Dont know why you cant except him as a great goalie now. And any goalie that wins the vesina had a good D. Goaltending is huge in the playoffs. Look at the flyers.
