It's not often one encounters GE's AC6000's in service, much less in California. I encountered a pair of CSX's in Daggett, then UP's #7567 in the Bay Area and Roseville. It's not the first time I've seen these 6000 hp monsters. I've seen CSX's in The Berkshires in Massachusetts, and UP's in Utah and Wyoming. The huge overhanging radiators and the dual exhaust stacks are the spotting features.

  • are AC6000's physically bigger than AC4400's, or is just the engine size bigger

  • @MrZkr123: They are physically bigger, although not by much, but the rear radiators on AC6000's do stand out much more than the AC4400's.

  • I don't understand why there are 2 different company locos on the same train...how does it work??? I mean...CSX and BNSF split the train profits??? (sorry if my English is not good, but I'm not English)

  • @jossdeiboss: They don't split the profits. BNSF may borrow a locomotive from CSX (due to shortages) then BNSF owes CSX horsepower-hours. BNSF can pay back that horsepower-hours by letting CSX borrow their locomotive when appropriate.

  • Great video like always!! 5/5*'s automatically for catching those monsters in action!

I also see you are in the bay area you should stop by our club and pay us a visit we're right next to the C&H Sugar Factory which the tracks are basically located right across the street from us!!

  • Thanks for letting me know where your club is. I'll try to visit when I'm in the area.

  • The GE AC6000 is my favorite highhp unit! Glad to see that some of those powerful beasts are still out there earning a living! Great Post & 5/5!

  • thank you so much for explaining the spotting features! I've been trying to learn how to identify locomotives and such. Do you have any helpful resources to learn about this stuff?

  • im not into my trains but that is impressive

  • Very good video. I enjoyed it alot.

  • Thanks for the info :)

  • Most of the ones that have been renumbered into the 6900 series are the converted C6044AC's.
